Work Progresses on Silk Towers, Batumi's Landmark Seafront Development
Construction of Silk Towers, a landmark development by Silk Development, progresses at full pace. The multifunctional complex is rising on the first coastline of Old Batumi, on one of the city's last remaining seafront plots. Designed in collaboration with the renowned Japanese architecture studio Kengo Kuma & Associates, the project brings together architecture, concept, and master planning across a 10-hectare site.
Pile installation is now underway, marking one of the most critical stages of the construction process. Piles are being installed to form the structural base, ensuring stability and distributing the building's load. These foundations are essential to the long-term strength and safety of the development.
Prior to the start of construction, Silk Development conducted a detailed geological study of the Silk Towers site. International experts were engaged to thoroughly assess geotechnical and seismic factors, providing a solid foundation for every decision that followed. The deep foundation system was developed in accordance with international standards.
Notably, the process included a step rarely implemented in the local market: installing test piles. This allowed the team to reassess ground conditions, validate engineering solutions, and ensure that the foundation system would perform to the highest standards.
To address the complex engineering challenge of the foundation system, Silk Development is partnering with ZETAŞ, a leading geotechnical engineering firm with extensive experience across 10 countries worldwide. Collaboration with international specialists highlights Silk Development's commitment to professional excellence. Every stage of construction will be guided by strict safety measures and environmental care.
"Developing projects that meet modern international standards is our top priority. Silk Towers reflects our commitment to environmental sustainability and thoughtful design. This vision has been brought to life through collaboration with leading global experts. With its architecture, infrastructure, and multifunctional concept, Silk Towers is envisioned as a future symbol of Batumi," said Mamuka Shurgaia, General Director of Silk Development
As the project progresses, Silk Towers continues to attract growing interest from international investors. Supported by Batumi's rising tourism and consistently strong demand for real estate, Silk Towers is positioned as a rare investment opportunity on the Black Sea coast. Apartment management, rentals, and the delivery of hotel-level services for residents and guests will be fully handled by Silk Hospitality. Pre-sales for Silk Towers apartments began in August 2025. Driven by strong interest, the project has already been showcased at several international real estate exhibitions, including A Place in the Sun Live 2026 in Manchester and MIPIM 2026 in Cannes, where it was also nominated in the Mixed-Use category.
Silk Towers is rising in one of Batumi's most prestigious locations, right next to the iconic Ali and Nino statue. For the globally acclaimed architecture studio Kengo Kuma & Associates, this marks its first collaboration in Georgia. Known for redefining the relationship between architecture and nature, Kengo Kuma is behind some of the world's most celebrated landmarks, including the Tokyo Olympic Stadium, the Louis Vuitton headquarters in Osaka, and design collaborations with Rolls-Royce.
Silk Towers is truly unmatched in the region. The project brings together investment apartments, hotels, a private yacht club, a casino, bars and restaurants, premium retail, spa and fitness centres, swimming pools, padel courts, and a wide range of supporting infrastructure. A 2-hectare recreational park, created by Silk Development in collaboration with MASU Planning, is already open and welcoming visitors beside the complex. Together, these elements position Silk Towers as a new benchmark for living, leisure, and investment on the Black Sea coast.
